Michael Gold is the founder and Principal of Jazz Impact, where he develops arts-based seminars that foster deeper understanding of the emotive and energetic dynamics that drive growth and spur innovation in organizations.
Gold has held management positions in the fields of financial management, construction and real estate. He has been a visiting lecturer for the Kellogg School of Management’s Leadership Development Program since 2007. He is a visiting lecturere at The University of Minnesota since 2010. Gold received The Paul D. Fleck Fellow Award from The Banff Centre for Leadership for his outstanding work in the field of Arts Based Learning for Business. He is a member of the Faculty and Curriculum Development Committee of The Art of Science Learning project titled “Integrating Informal STEM and Arts-Based Learning to Foster Innovation.”
Gold has presented keynote programs that reinforce team-building, problem solving and other management skills by drawing upon live jazz performance to top Fortune 500 companies and NGO’s that include: IBM, Microsoft, Siemens, Aetna, McGraw- Hill, Thomson International, Credit Suisse, General Dynamics, The Hay Group International, Cargill, Accenture, General Mills and The United Nations.
He holds a Ph.D. in music and spent nearly two decades as a jazz bassist in New York having performed with such greats as Lee Konitz, Al Cohn, Tal Farlow, Sheila Jordan, Jon Hendricks and Warne Marsh.
