René Roy

Rene Roy PhotoRené Roy is currently the Director of the Chicago Incubator for Innovation at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.  He also teaches Oral Communication and Directing in the Film and Broadcast program at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy in Chicago.

Previously René has been a professor of Theatre Arts and Chair of the Fine Arts department at National Louis University (NLU) and for seventeen years produced Skylight TV, the closed circuit, interactive television station inside Children’s Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children’s). For Skylight he produced live TV shows for families and patients in their beds with many celebrities including Renee Fleming, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Yo Yo Ma and Fred Rogers, to mention a few.  At NLU René directed dozens of stage productions ranging from musicals and children’s theatre to contemporary dramas and Shakespeare.  His work has been recognized with three Telly Awards, a research and development grant from the National Endowment for Children’s Educational Television and a Meritorious Achievement Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

René earned a B.F.A in Drama/Musical Theatre from the Boston Conservatory and an M.F.A in Stage Directing from Northwestern University. He holds memberships in Actor’s Equity Association and the Screen Actor’s Guild.  René is a certified Johnny G Spinning instructor and an avid gardener.  He and his wife Celeste are the proud parents of four children and live in Skokie, Illinois.
